What the Work Involves
The work includes reviewing and negotiating agreements for sale, investigating title and raising requisitions, preparing conveyances and deeds of gift, and handling completion and registration. It also covers the tax and administrative steps a transfer involves, such as property transfer tax and stamp duty, land tax clearance, and exchange control where a party is resident outside Barbados. Title problems are much cheaper to resolve before an agreement is signed than after, so the work often starts at the offer stage.
